The Lawyer Party

  • Since 1984, every Democratic nominee for President and Vice President has been a lawyer.
  • Most Republican nominees have not been lawyers1Romney only kind of counts. He got a joint MBA/JD, but went into finance.

What does that mean? Not sure really. I started thinking about it the this past week with the conventions and it struck me as an interesting phenomenon. Are lawyers are naturally Democrats? The Democratic party attracts lawyers? Republicans prefer business?

If nothing else, I’d say that if you want to be a Democratic party presidential (or VP) nominee, you better get a JD first.
